Eccentric Bottom Bracket

Eccentric Bottom Bracket

How It Works.

While the eccentric bottom bracket may seem complicated, it's a very simple piece of technology. The eccentric is designed to allows one to use a bicycle with vertical dropouts as a single speed It allows one to add the necessary tension to the bicycle chain.

It does this when the eccentric insert is rotated inside the frame shell. This causes the crank to move closer or further away from the rear dropouts. Once the eccentric insert has been rotated enough to provide the desired chain tension, the two set- screws located on the top of the shell should be tensioned to ___ foot pounds.

Rotating the Ebb shell moves the bottom bracket axle further from the dropouts. Creating an increase in chain tension.

Set-up tips: We recommend coating the inside of the bottom bracket shell with grease or an anti-seize compound. Slide the EBB insert into the frame. Prep set provided set screws with anti-seize compound and lightly tighten screws. Then one can install the bottom bracket unit into the EBB insert. Install cranks and rotate ebb to desired position. Tighten set screws to ____ftlbs.

If you are using a geared set-up you are free to move the EBB into any position you choose, however depending on your frame design lining up the centre of the bottom bracket axle with the centre of the seat tube may provide the best shifting.
